Building Community
University of Iowa faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends give back to their communities in countless ways, many that can’t be quantified. But when it comes to charitable contributions and volunteer service, their impact is clear.
During fiscal year 2009, University of Iowa Health Care provided Iowa residents with more than $232.5 million in unreimbursed care. UI faculty and staff also provided hours of volunteer services valued at $17 million.
Together, UI employees donated $24.8 million to local charitable organizations in 2009. Students donated nearly $6 million, and also sponsored $20.5 million worth of volunteer activities.
