EMPLOYMENT

Our goal in Employment is to see an increase in the number of persons with disabilities that have access to and receive assistive technology (AT) and appropriate accommodations to become or remain employed. To do this there must be an increase in the number of working adults with disabilities, older, rural, and minority workers, individuals transitioning from school, SSI/SSDI, or institutional settings.

FUNDING FOR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Iowa COMPASS provides information to Iowa consumers and family members about potential sources of funding for the purchase of assistive technology. When a consumer requests assistance in finding funding for a specific piece of equipment, the Funding Specialist will ask a series of questions to determine which public programs and private organizations might be able to help. They will then send the caller a packet of information, which include fact sheets on funding sources, funding strategies brochure, loan closets, and
alternative funding resources.

For more information on potential funding resources, you can Contact Us or you can e-mail our Funding Specialist, Jennifer Britton at jennifer-britton@uiowa.edu.
