Iowa COMPASS provides information to Iowa consumers and family members about potential sources of funding for the purchase of assistive technology. When a consumer requests assistance in finding funding for a specific piece of equipment, Iowa COMPASS will ask a series of questions to determine which public programs and private organizations might be able to help. Iowa COMPASS will then send the caller a packet of information, which can include fact sheets on funding sources, an Equipment Key, the funding strategies brochure, and loan closets.
All of the COMPASS funding information is compiled in Funding Assistive Technology: an IPAT Resource Manual (PDF).The Funding Manual is updated on an ongoing basis. Please contact us at compassfunding@uiowa.edu with any additions or corrections.The manual was last updated July 27, 2006. The Table of Contents is on page 3. It has the following sections:

You can also search for funding sources in the Index by equipment type. Remember: To move around in the manual do not use the internet browser "back" button.
