Iowa COMPASS provides information to Iowa consumers and family members about potential sources of funding for the purchase of assistive technology. When a consumer requests assistance in finding funding for a specific piece of equipment, Iowa COMPASS will ask a series of questions to determine which public programs and private organizations might be able to help. Iowa COMPASS will then send the caller a packet of information, which include fact sheets on funding sources, the funding strategies brochure, a list of loan closets, and information on alternative funding resources.
Iowa COMPASS also provides referrals to free legal advocacy services, through the AT Legal Project, for individuals who need help in obtaining assistive technology. You can also read through a brochure called Your Legal Rights to Assistive Technology to help better understand your rights toward funding for assistive technology.
