InfoTech and Iowa COMPASS have Merged!!
All InfoTech information and referral services are now offered through Iowa COMPASS.
Iowa COMPASS provides information and referral on disability-related organizations. You can check out their website at www.medicine.uiowa.edu/iowacompass. Now, with the addition of InfoTech, they include information and referral on Assistive Technology for residents of Iowa. This includes:
The services provided include product and funding information on adaptive devices, the Used Equipment Referral Service (UERS), and free legal advocacy.
Iowa COMPASS provides free, up-to-date product information on commercially available adaptive equipment for people with disabilities or people who are elderly. Iowa COMPASS has resources that include a computer database on assistive technology and manufacturers, an in-house collection of catalogs and product literature, newsletters, fact sheets, articles, and a limited amount of vendor and evaluation information. Using these resources, InfoTech will compile and mail a packet of information including the names, addresses, and phone numbers of companies that manufacture devices appropriate to the needs of the caller.

UERS does not list medical equipment, such a ventilators, nebulizers, oxygen equipment, TENS units, etc. As of October 1, 1999 materials will not be mailed or faxed to non-Iowa residents.
If you have equipment you wish to donate in Iowa, contact a local loan closet or the Easter Seal Society of Iowa at 515-289-1933.
