Hi! Welcome to Jake's Yankari Safari Page

This is the bull elephant that my dad got about 15 yards away from. There were
others, but this is the one I like. The one thing I didn't like about it is that, when we went back after seeing the elephants, they had thrown trees down all over the road. We had to make our own trail through the bush. |
| This is the Jeep that we went on Safari with. Luckily it was a four-wheeler or
we wouldn't have made it. And, boy it took some hard time with thorn branches in the
way and having to go through the bush quite a ways. Here everyone has gotten out of the car except me and my friend Ninji and we're crossing a rock bridge that crosses a river where crocodiles and hippos live. |

These are Guinea fowl. They are really wierd. Every time a car's coming --
and they are all over the road -- they run in front of the car until the car is an inch or
two behind them before they run off to the side of the road. In this picture we caught them just before they ran off the road. |
| Baboons are really sneaky animals. They steal everything and they are all over
your roof in the morning and they try to get into your windows and door. We suspect
that they took my brother's yo-yo. We had a lot of fun watching them play tag at night at the warm springs. We watched them go into the girl's bathroom and bring out shoes. They played tag in the trees and when one baboon tagged another baboon they would fall into the water. |

This is Nigerian bald eagle. Just as we were taking pictures of it it flew away. It's wingspan was so big I bet I could ride on its back. |
| This is us going back to the Lion's Den. But that's just what some tourists call
it. It's really just a trail to some man-made caves made by some people who lived
thousands of years ago. On the way we had to pass another hippo pool. There was fresh elephant tracks and dung on the trail. This was real scary because we were out of the car and if any animal caught us we would be mincemeat. |

This is my dad's 13EE sized foot in a elephant track. |
| Here we are in the warm springs. Man! You feel like you have clothes on it
is so warm. This guy named Daniel climbed the cliff behind us and wrote his name on the wall. If you go too far down the springs you can't get back because the current is so strong. I heard that before we got out there was an elephant heading to the warm springs. |

These monkeys are really fun to watch! Jumping for tree to tree and crawling up
and down each other. I really liked watching the baby on its mother's stomach.
It looked like it was going to fall off every time its mother jumped. I really like watching one monkey as he jumped, missed a branch, and fell to the ground. Luckily, he was only maybe about 50 feet up in the tree. |
