Unijos Library Seminar holds

The first library senior staff seminar for 1999 held on May 26, 1999. Mr. Stephen A. Akintunde presented a paper titled Methods and Procedures in Library and Information Science Research. The thrust of the presentation was the need to develop very good research skills before meaningful research reports can be presented and published. Animated information technology, using power point was used n making the presentation which was chaired by the University librarian, Mrs. A.B. Ojoade. More than 20 librarians were in attendance.

CULNU at the University of Jos

The Committee of Librarians of Nigerian Universities (CULNU) held the first of her 1999 bi-annual seminars and meeting at the University of Jos from April 21-23. It was the most well-attended of the meetings so far. Twenty-eight out of the 36 University Librarians in the country were in attendance.   The seminar session focussed on Internet with two speakers. Cliff Missen, American Fulbright scholar in the University of Jos, who presented the lead paper titled 'The Role of Libraries in the Digital Age: Internet Access and Knowledge Navigation'; and Stephen Akintunde Head, Systems Unit in the Unijos Libraries, who made two presentations:- The Migration ; Digitizing the University of Jos Library & The Human Side of Digitization.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The presentations by the two speakers were very well received by the participants.That was Wednesday April 21. The meeting was held on Thursday, April 22, 1999. In the evening of Thursday, a dinner party was held to honour eight retiring University Librarians. They are: Sam. Ifidon, George Affiah, Festus Akiyotu, N. Ita, Fasanya, G. Tamuno and H. Said.
