Important Undergraduate Dates

David Perlmutter (Director, SJMC) and Jim Cremer (Chair Computer Science) have been awarded an Academic Technologies Advisory Council 2009 Innovations in Teaching with Technology Award by Iowa Information Technology Services. Totaling about $6,500, the funding will pay for the technology for the “Create an iPhone App. Class” to be taught in the Spring. Perlmutter and Cremer discussed the class in a Daily Iowa interview.

Don McLeese's new book, The New York Times Reader: Arts & Culture is slated for publication February 2010 by Scope/CQ Press.

Gigi Durham has been invited to deliver the Motorola Lecture on Gender and Media at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) on January 28. Her talk is
titled, "Combating the Lolita Effect." More information here.

David Perlmutter was co-author of a new research article, "Why Blog? (Then and Now): Exploring the Motivations for Blogging By Popular American Political Bloggers" in the journal New Media & Society, January 2010.
