My students are hired, so now what? Leading students can be an overwhelming job, but supervisors will leave this course with tips on how to communicate and build relationships with students while setting boundaries. We will also be exploring best practices in student employee supervision.
Objectives: (At the end of this course participants will be able to)
- Describe the roles of a student supervisor.
- Explain how to effectively communicate with student employees.
- Describe how to build healthy working relationships with student employees.
Participants: (audience course is designed for)
This is a core course for the Supervising Today's Students (STS) certificate program. It is intended for UI faculty and staff who supervise undergraduate student employees. All STS courses are open to all regardless of participation in the certificate program.
