Studies show that a student employee's job satisfaction, performance, and retention are all tied to their motivation. This course will examine the concept of motivation and the benefits of engaging student employees. In addition, participants will learn tips for providing quick feedback, the benefits of using goal setting, and recognition ideas.
Objectives: (At the end of this course participants will be able to)
- Understand the basic components of employee motivation and engagement.
- Delineate steps to successfully provide feedback to student employees.
- Describe how recognition positively impacts motivation and how to successfully recognize student employees.
Participants: (audience course is designed for)
This is a core course for the Supervising Today's Students (STS) certificate program. It is intended for UI faculty and staff who supervise undergraduate student employees. All STS courses are open to all regardless of participation in the certificate program.
