Facilitation Skills: Dealing with Resistance
Course # 118
Facilitators are often asked to work with groups or teams that have difficult projects or decisions to make. If you are asked to facilitate in these circumstances, there may be resistance from within the group. This session will help you recognize that resistance, and give you practice on how to overcome it. Intended for trainers who may be trying to implement change within a work group. This session uses techniques based on the work of Ingrid Bens, found in her book Facilitating with Ease.
- Recognize resistance.
- Understand how to deal with resistance through practice.
- Plan how to use these techniques in “real life”.
- Plan with a buddy to review how effective your efforts were.
Participants (audience course is aimed at):
This session is geared towards those people who identify themselves as facilitators. This session can also be of value to supervisors who need to initiate change within their work areas.
