RE: UI Health Care Orientation for New Faculty and Staff
Welcome to The University of Iowa’s Health Care team! We are pleased to invite you to attend the UI Health Care New Faculty and Staff Orientation. This orientation is provided by UI Health Care to all eligible new employees. If you are a new faculty member, you may receive information about additional orientation programs offered through the Office of the Provost. (For more information regarding new faculty orientation, please see the Office of the Provost NewFaculty@UIOWA Programs website.
You are registered to attend the following orientation session:

Time: 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM
Location: The East Room (Elevator D or F to the 8th Floor)
- Please note that attending New Hire Orientation is a required compliance for your position and must be completed within 90 days of your start date, HOWEVER, YOU MUST MAKE YOUR BENEFIT ELECTIONS WITHIN 60 DAYS OF YOUR START DATE.
Please bring the following items with you to Orientation if you will be enrolling in any employee benefit programs:
- This letter
- A blue or black ink ballpoint pen
- Social Security Numbers for all individuals who are to be covered by insurance
- A picture ID bearing the signature you normally use for transactions; options include a valid driver’s license, passport, visa, credit card bearing both a photo and signature, military ID, or a valid form of picture ID coupled with a social security card (which bears the person’s signature). If you would like to change your official name with the University, or correct your Social Security Number, please call the Payroll office at (319) 335-2381.
Please note that the Benefits Education Center at has online modules explaining your benefits. Employees may enroll in their benefits online prior to attending the orientation program. There is a module on the Benefits Education Center website that will guide you through the enrollment process. If you are unsure of your employment classification, you may visit the Employment Categories and Classifications website for more information.
