Well@Work: Helping Employees Manage Depression in the Workplace
Depression is a pervasive and costly problem in American business and industry. Recent research and new technology have improved our understanding of this illness, but there is much that is unknown about its causes and cures. Well@Work is a pilot project designed to assist both the employee and the workplace in managing employee depression. Resources for the employee include tools and coaching support to increase positive habits and concentration. In addition, the employee may elect to have the counselor facilitate a discussion with his/her supervisor, to explore additional ways for creating a productive, supportive work experience. 6-8 sessions with a Counselor/Coach over the course of 6 months, an optional facilitated discussion with supervisor and several resources (readings, personality assessment, CDs/Tapes) are included with this program.
Diabetes
Rehabilitation Therapies REACH Program - Program that offers a free blood glucose screening and an eight week prevention program for people at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, especially those who have pre-diabetes.
Clinical Trials
The Clinical Trials Office invites patients and healthy volunteers to participate in medical research. You may search by medical condition to see if there is a research study in which you might wish to participate. In addition, people without a known medical condition are sometimes needed in studies.
Other Chronic Conditions
The UIHC Family Care Center's Chronic Disease Self Management Program offers a 6-week workshop titled "Take Charge of Your Health." "Take Charge of Your Health" has been shown to be beneficial for people with a variety of chronic conditions including diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, arthritis, and depression.
