The Microbiology Department is part of the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and is located in the Bowen Science Building on The University of Iowa Health Care campus. Modern equipment and teaching laboratories are available for research and teaching. The department's faculty members teach and perform research in the areas of immunology, microbial genetics and physiology, microbial pathogenesis, and virology.
The Department of Microbiology shares the Bowen Science Building with the Departments of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Physiology & Biophysics, and Pharmacology.
