Transportation & Parking
Cars: We recommend parking in one of the many downtown ramps operated by the City of Iowa City or the University of Iowa (Old Capitol Mall, Pappajohn, Iowa Memorial Union, or Clocktower Plaza).
Bicycles: Bike racks are located at the northeast corner of the building. Riding bikes on sidewalks on the Pentacrest is prohibited.
Buses: We are close to several Iowa City, Coralville, and UI Cambus stops for many bus routes. The Downtown Interchange (Bongo stops 0001 and 0002) is a block and a half away, on the south side of the Pentacrest. The Macbride Hall (Bongo 0120), Clinton & Iowa (1030), Clinton & Jefferson (7207), and Pappajohn (1021) stops are less than a block away.
Scheduling a Tour
Guided tours are available Tuesday through Sunday with a prior reservation. Guided tours focus on the exhibits in Iowa Hall, and groups are encouraged to visit the Bird and Mammal Galleries for self-guided tours. All tours are free, as is museum admission. The Museum requests that you call to schedule your tour at least a week before the desired date. March, April, and May tour spots fill up very early!
To schedule a tour, please contact us at email@example.com or call our Visitor Services coordinator at 319-335-2010.
The Museum is handicapped accessible through an entrance on the east side of Macbride Hall, adjacent to the stairs leading up to our main entrance. An elevator provides access to all Museum galleries. Please note: classes in Macbride Auditorium periodically block access to the Hageboeck Hall of Birds on the third floor, at which time stairs provide the only means of entrance. If this is a critical issue, please contact the Museum or call 319-335-2010, and the staff can inform you about the auditorium schedule.
Free written guides for Iowa Hall are available in the Iowa Hall lobby in French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese (traditional and simplified).
Guides and Scavenger Hunts
