The robin is a great thing to look forward to in the spring. When you see the robin, you know winter is over. If you find a robin in a nest, chances are it has a little robin egg. Seeing a robin in a nest makes me happy.
The female is important to the eggs. She sits on them all day. But sometimes the male takes over. The male robin has a bright orange-red breast and a black head and a grey back. The female has a grey head and a grey back and a duller orange-red breast. The nest is made out of yarn, grass, twigs, and leaves. They like to eat worms and berries, not bird seed. Their range is mostly anywhere in the United States. So when you are outside listen for “tut-tut-tut.”
So go bird watching sometime and listen to all the birds, and the robins, of course. I hope they bring joy to your heart. Robins are your red-bellied friends.
