About the animal:
There are approximately 240,000 different kinds of flowering plants that have developed over the last 125 million years that need to be pollinated.
Pollinating is the process of the pollen from the stamen uniting with the stigma in order for the plant to reproduce.
Pollinators like wind, insects, animals, or my little friend here, the hummingbird, help ecosystems by pollinating flowers. With the survival of the flower, business in Iowa and around the world is ensured.
About the image: This particular photo was taken a few feet away from the subject with no extra lenses, nor did I zoom into it. I believe that this photo is perfect for the theme “The Animal Among Us.” The subject was obviously so used to humans walking about that it didn’t care to pay much attention to them any more. This image relates to my region of Iowa because there isn’t much land untouched and some to the point that animals don’t care any more.
Animals are important to Iowans for the development of agriculture and gaming practices. The animals depend on us to care for them, to feed them, to not destroy their habitat, not to over hunt them, and to give them room to live.
