Can a creative writer ethically and mutually enrich her art and that of her writing partners, if those partners are teens who have suffered terrible abuse? Will the public grasp public health needs more easily if a geographer invites rural groups to help create maps that capture not only places but the feelings that give those places meaning?

Fifteen Fellows from four UI Colleges debated these questions and more with faculty members, fellow graduate students, and local community leaders at the 2008 Obermann Graduate Institute on Engagement and the Academy.
