The University of Iowa has a deep respect for the intrinsic value of each human being, and a steadfast commitment to promoting and protecting human rights on its Iowa City campus, in its surrounding community and beyond. For this reason, the University has adopted a Code of Conduct for licensees who produce apparel and other products bearing the University's name, trademarks or images.
The University seeks to engage in business practices that effect positive change in human working conditions domestically and abroad. The University therefore requires all of its licensees to conduct business in such a way that the University will not benefit from the gross exploitation of U.S. or international labor.
To help the University monitor the working conditions in its licensee's manufacturing facilities, the Code of Conduct requires that all licensees disclose the locations of their manufacturing facilities, as well as the manufacturing facilities of their contractors, including all subcontractors, vendors and other manufacturers engaged in producing finished consumer products.
