WelcomeEvery ten years, the University of Iowa conducts a self-study in preparation for reaccreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. That process is now underway in preparation for a reaccreditation site visit in April 2008. The HLC offers mature institutions such as ours the option of pursuing a self-study focused on an area of special interest. The University of Iowa’s current study will explore all aspects of undergraduate education. Preparing for our institutional reaccreditation requires cooperation and assistance from all academic and non-academic units on campus. A steering committee of faculty and staff was appointed in October 2005 to organize, coordinate, and implement the process. Subcommittees have been formed to investigate five major themes:
