Process and Timeline
Reaccreditation by the Higher Learning Commission involves an extensive self-study followed by a site visit by an external team of consultant-evaluators. The UI self-study process began in October 2005 with the appointment of a self-study steering committee.
Sub-committees to address the five themes of the self-study were created in Spring 2006 and will collect and analyze data and develop reports during the 2006-2007 academic year.
A draft self-study report, prepared by the Steering Committee, will be available for campus comment in Fall 2007. The final report will be delivered to the Higher Learning Commission in February 2008.
The Higher Learning Commission consultant-evaluator team will visit The University of Iowa April 28-30, 2008. A report from that team is anticipated shortly after the visit.
