The Department of Risk Management, Insurance & Loss Prevention is responsible for administering risk management and insurance programs in compliance with the University of Iowa and State Board of Regents' risk management policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
The mission of the Department of Risk Management, Insurance & Loss Prevention is to minimize the risk of financial loss to the University through the identification and analysis of risk, implementation of loss control programs and contractual transfer or other risk reduction or financing techniques.
The Department of Risk Management, Insurance & Loss Prevention administers insurance and self-insurance programs covering property and liability risks, including buildings, equipment, fine art, vehicles, fidelity, liability claims and disaster response planning.
The Department of Risk Management, Insurance & Loss Prevention aspires to provide risk management services and programs, which enhance and promote safety, protect and preserve University assets and resources, and compare favorably to those of the top ten universities.
