Changes in U-Bill distribution

Beginning Feb. 1, 2009, The University of Iowa will no longer mail paper copies of University Bills (U-Bills) to students. Instead, students will receive e-mail notification when their U-Bills are available for review and payment online through ISIS.

E-mail notifications will be sent to students’ University e-mail addresses (student-name@uiowa.edu). Students will be responsible for reviewing their U-Bills, forwarding e-mail notifications to parents, guardians, or other third parties who assist with payment, providing ISIS guest access as needed, and making sure their bills are paid.

Currently, paper U-Bills are sent to students whenever their accounts show activity in the preceding month. The change to electronic billing saves the cost of printing and mailing U-Bills, as well as the paper needed to produce printed copies.

Information for Those Without Internet Access

The change to electronic billing is mandatory. Students with disabilities that prevent internet access can submit an appeal, as can off-campus students who demonstrate that they do not have internet access. To file an appeal, download the exemption form and return it to Room 5 Calvin Hall.

Students who forward U-Bill notifications to parents or other third parties should make sure recipients have ISIS guest access. If third parties do not have internet access, students should print their bills from ISIS and forward the paper copies.

Pay U-Bills Online or by Check

Students and third-party payers can continue to pay U-Bills online via ISIS using a bank debit. All bank information is secure and available only to students or ISIS guests who enter the information. When paying a U-Bill by check, please note your billing account number on your check to ensure proper payment.

Again, students are responsible for checking their uiowa.edu e-mail accounts for U-Bill notifications or checking ISIS each month to see whether a bill is due.
