Referral
The UCS offers an initial consultation appointment for the purposes of discussing your concerns and arriving at the best course of action for resolution of your concerns. Sometimes, due to special requirements for care, ineligibility for our services, or other reasons, you and the UCS counselor with whom you meet for your initial consultation may decide that a referral to another agency or service provider would be most beneficial. The UCS staff have extensive information and knowledge about the various services and agencies available on campus and in the Iowa City community. In these instances, you would most often be given several options to pursue, and your UCS consultant will often offer a follow-up contact to assure that you have made contact with another agency or service.
