Permanent Collections Galleries

Paintings by classic modern masters such as Matisse, Picasso, and Miró, lead to Max Beckmann’s Karneval, exploring exile, loss, and guilt at the end of the second World War. The American collection is dominated by Abstract Expressionism, notably Jackson Pollock’s Mural of 1943, among the most important paintings in American art. Selections from the collection of 5000 prints, drawings, and photographs are presented in the Hoover-Paul Works on Paper gallery.
