You are invited:

Annual AAC Family Picnic on Sunday, September 25,

from 2:30-6:00 PM at Upper City Park, Shelter #3.

Thank you for visiting the African American Council Web-site.
We apologize, but our site is currently "under construction" however we want to be able to provide you some information while we are working to improve our site.

To faculty and staff members of the African American community on the University of Iowa campus a message from the AAC president:

My name is Michael Hill, and I am an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the African American Studies program and the English department. Since March 2010, I have served as the president of the African American Council. During the spring and summer of 2011, both the executive committee and the general body of the AAC met regularly. Out of those meetings, we produced a vision and a slate of events, the Excellence Curriculum, that will allow our members and individuals in the broader campus community to advance in their careers, build meaningful personal relationships, and address needs beyond this university. By fostering excellence in work, sincerity in cultural exchanges, and targeted interventions in public service, the African American Council strives to be a vibrant organization that meets real needs. To achieve this goal, we could use your help.

Thanks for your indulgence, and best wishes for a delightful year.

As an introduction to the AAC and a way to learn more about participating we invite you to attend our annual Family Picnic on Sunday, September 25 from 2:30-6:00 PM at Upper City Park, Shelter #3. We will have food for all and important information about our activities. This picnic will allow us to lay eyes on one another and to hear in detail the African American Council’s invigorating ideas.

AAC needs your participation and support to be able to provide a strong unified voice on campus for our needs, issues and concerns.  Please consider participating so that we won't have a few trying to speak for many.

We hope you will be able to attend some of the events that will be planned each year with you in mind.

We also invite you to join us at our regular meetings  - we will be sure to post the times and locations at this site.
