By joining the AAUP and becoming a member of its University of Iowa chapter you add your voice to others who are concerned about:

• core issues such tenure, academic freedom, shared governance, and due process, which the AAUP has fought to establish and defend for decades.

• the decreased state support of the university and sky-rocketing student tuition.

• the corporatization of higher education and the reduced role of faculty in governance.

• the recent trend of hiring adjuncts, lecturers, and “visiting faculty” at low wages and no benefits rather than tenure-track faculty.
