Sanga, Mali, June 1998

One of the most famous of the Dogon villages is Sanga, where a series of French scholars studied in the period from 1934 to the late 1950's. Here were recorded much of the important data about the belief systems and religion of the Dogon people. Two large rectangular granaries sit near the stone walls of a family home.
