A pilgrimage to Mecca during Dhu'l Hijja, made as part of the religious life of a Moslem. |

A dry, dusty wind that blows along the northwest coast of Africa. |

Disorder and chaos. |

hazing : |
Harassing with meaningless, difficult, or humiliating tasks. Often associated with a initiation into a private organization. |

headman : |
The community leader who is usually elevated due to his accomplishments, considered equal to the other members of the community. |

heddle(s) : |
One of a set of parallel cords or wires in a loom used to separate and guide the warp threads and make a path for the shuttle. |

heralds : |
Announcing or suggesting something to come. |
|
hermaphrodite : |
One having both male and female characteristics such as having both breasts and a penis. |

herringbone : |
A pattern consisting of rows of short, slanted parallel lines with the direction of the slant alternating row by row. |

heterogeneous : |
Made up of completely different and dissimilar elements or parts. |

hiatus : |
A gap or an interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break. |

hierarchic(al) : |
Relating to the organization of a group of people according to ability or status. |

hieratic : |
Relating to the formal organization of a group of people according to ability or status. |

historiography : |
The principles or theories of scholarly historical research and presentation. |
|
homage : |
Special honor or respect shown or expressed publicly. |
|
hypothesis : |
An assumption. |
