The average week of an Air Force ROTC cadet consists mostly of academic classes, training sessions, and morning workouts. These three activities are required of each cadet. Beyond these activities are a number of other functions that add to what makes AFROTC life so unique.
Most cadets take about fifteen hours per week in academic classes. They are required to take part in about two hours per week of physical training(PT) workouts, and another two hours per week in Leadership Laboratories(LLAB). Outside of these required activities are many other events that cadets take part in. Most cadets who have not attended Field Training are encouraged to attend additional hour long training sessions known as ELAB and Expeditionary Training Preperation(ETP). For a more casual setting, morale events, including cookouts, bowling, and ping pong tournaments are always being organized. Also, most cadets have a leadership or staff position within the Wing which requires time spent dedicated to that particular job. Lastly, cadets always have the opportunity to take part in a number of volunteer activities.
As you can see, the life of an AFROTC cadet is not the typical life of a college student. The Cadre emphasizes a priority system which places family first, school second, and ROTC third. Obligations to ROTC should always come before the video games and parties, but it is important to take care of any family needs and do well academically.
