Captain Christopher C. Klaiber

Captain Christopher C. Klaiber is the assistant professor of aerospace studies (APAS), Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 255 located at The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA.  As the APAS, he is responsible for recruiting, educating, and training students for entry into the US Air Force with commissions as second lieutenants. He assumed his current duty in July 2008.

 Prior to his position as Assistant Professor at Det 255 Captain Klaiber was Commander, Military Personnel Flight, 509th Bomb Wing, Air Combat Command, Whiteman Air Force Base, MO.  As flight commander, he was responsible for directing personnel support to 3,500 military personnel on Whiteman AFB and 11 geographically separated units.  He was the principle military personnel advisor to the wing, group, and squadron commanders. He directed the Personnel Reliability Program in support of Whiteman’s nuclear mission.  Additionally, he led the training, development and mobilization of Personnel Support for Contingency Operations to worldwide deployments

 Captain Klaiber’s career started as Squadron Section Commander of the 419th Flight Test Squadron and 95th Mission Support Squadron at Edwards AFB, CA in February 2001.  Capt Klaiber’s next assignment was as Chief, Military Equal Opportunity assigned to 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman AFB, MO.  This assignment culminated as the Commander, Military Personnel Flight.  During this tour Captain Klaiber deployed to United Arab Emirates as the 380th Expeditionary Support Group where he was responsible for accounting of 3,500 troops from 116 locations in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

 Captain Klaiber graduated from DuBois Area High School, DuBois, Pennsylvania in 1992.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000 from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa and a Master of Arts degree from Webster University, St. Louis, MO in 2003.

 Captain Klaiber was commissioned a second lieutenant in 2000 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Iowa.
