| VISITORS |
On behalf of the
Cadre and all of the cadets, I would like to welcome you to the
website of the Air Force ROTC Detachment 255 at The University of
Iowa. We are glad that you are interested in joining the less than
0.2% students at Iowa who choose to part take in
our program and community, where upon we build intellectual,
physical, and moral excellence on campus.
Being in the Air Force ROTC program is unlike any other experience
you can have while in college. In the program, you will be
challenged to reach your full potential. Of course your primary goal
is to get an education and obtain a degree. And it must be mentioned
that the Air Force ROTC program nationwide can pay for your college
expenses. They can also provide the support and guidance that you
need to ensure that you graduate on time and with an outstanding
record and resume.
You might think that being in the program is a huge time commitment.
However, many of the cadets always find time to become involved in
other student organizations like Dance Marathon, Hawkeye Flying
Club, I-Envision, intramural leagues, fraternities and sororities,
and much more. Not only are these cadets leaders in student
organizations, these students also volunteer numerous hours
participating in local fundraisers and community service activities.
If you decide to come check out this program know that there are no
mandatory requirements for the first two years here to go active
duty after college. In fact every year many students take our class
for fun, wanting to know and learn a little more about our Air Force
customs, courtesies and history. I would highly recommend anyone to
sign up for the classes.
I have experienced it first hand; being in the Air Force ROTC
program here will only enhance your college experience and further
prepare you for what the future holds. Whether you choose to serve
in the Air Force or join the workforce, the Air Force ROTC program
can provide you with the leadership skills that will make you
marketable. It’s about challenging yourself and knowing that when
you graduate, confidence, character, perseverance, individuality,
you leave here a better person ready to confront the many challenges
that life may bring.
Take a look at our website but remember; the best way to know if the
Air Force ROTC program is for you is to visit our detachment and try
it out for yourself!
