Faculty and Staff

The strongest feature of the Iowa program in American Studies is its faculty and staff. The student has the opportunity to work closely in class, conferences, and on research with eminent scholars and teachers in many fields. During a typical Ph.D. course of study, one might work in this way with as many as six or eight recognized specialists.

Affiliated Faculty

Faculty are designated as "affiliated" when their work extends the teaching and research of American Studies faculty and graduate students. Affiliated faculty teach graduate classes of interest to our students and may serve on their comprehensive exam and dissertation committees.
