Background:
I am a second year socio-cultural student interested in sustainable agriculture, local food systems and prairie restoration in the U.S. I am particularly curious about strategies employed by rural families and communities in response to the changing realities of agriculture, the environment and the economy. I spent the past summer conducting my masters’ fieldwork with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farmers in Iowa. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Grinnell College in 1998. Prior to entering the program at Iowa, I was home full time with my two daughters, ages 7 and 5. When not studying, I am probably transporting someone to music or sports and wondering where my time goes.
