Background:
My research interests combine ecological and economic anthropology in the rural United States. In particular, I am interested in the strategies employed by rural families and communities in response to the changing realities of agriculture, the environment and the economy. My master's project examined Community Supported Agriculture and the engagement of media and non-profit organizations in healthy local food systems. My dissertation research examines the challenges that direct market producers face when scaling up to meet institutional markets.
