Medical Anthropologist
The University of Iowa, Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a tenure-track position in medical anthropology, at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. Requirements include Ph.D. in hand by the time of the appointment, an established publication record, a strong research program, and previous teaching experience. Applicants whose topical and geographical foci complement expertise currently present among the medical anthropology faculty are especially welcome. Teaching load is four courses per year. Teaching responsibilities include a required introductory course in sociocultural anthropology and undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's areas of expertise. Salary commensurate with experience. Anthropological Geneticist
The University of Iowa, Department of Anthropology, invites applications for a tenure-track position in biological anthropology specializing in anthropological genetics, at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. Requirements include: Ph.D. in hand by the time of the appointment, an established publication record, a strong research program, and previous teaching experience. Anthropological geneticists whose research includes theoretical modeling of molecular genetic markers to infer human and non-human primate evolutionary history and adaptation, and/or the genetic basis for complex morphological traits are especially welcome. Teaching responsibilities include required introductory and core undergraduate courses in biological anthropology and graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Salary commensurate with experience. Start up funding and laboratory space are available.
