Partnership with Elizabeth Tate Alternative High School
Each semester students in the secondary art education methods course work with Dr. Hani Elkadi and the students at Elizabeth Tate Alternative High School to conduct art workshops. We work in the schools twice each week and help students explore the studio practices and processes of contemporary artists through student centered high quality art instruction. University students in this course are expected to produce a unit of instruction which contains examples and information about contemporary artists who are living and making work, student centered lesson plans, and informative and genuine assessment protocols. Students also produce and keep field journals and read about ideas related to contemporary art and art education.
