Deaf Ed |
The College of Education now offers an added new Hearing Impaired Endorsement program. Completion of this program authorizes instruction of students with hearing loss from birth to age 21. Applicants to this program must first be admitted to an elementary or secondary Teacher Education Program or be the holder of an Iowa Teaching License with an endorsement in regular education.
The University of Iowa is currently the only institution in the State of Iowa that offers this endorsement program.
It should be noted that there are limited field expeerience placement sites available for students in the hearing impaired program. As a result, students may be required to travel for practicum and student teaching placements.
