Second Grade Only
A second-grade-only (SGO) option allows you to repeat courses taken at UI, unless regression is involved, and have only the grade and credit of the second registration used in computing total hours earned, UI cumulative and total cumulative GPA's. Other colleges may have different rules. Consult the Schedule of Courses or see your academic adviser or athletics counselor. The symbol "#"on the transcript shows that a course has been repeated under the provision of second-grade-only option. Both grades remain on the permanent record, but only the second one is used in calculating the GPA and hours earned.
Students must file for the option beginning the second week of classes in the session in which the course is retaken. Until the SGO is filed, both grades continue to be counted in the GPA.
Consult the Schedule
of Courses for more information about the rules and restrictions that
apply to the SGO option or see your academic adviser or athletics counselor.
