degree completion

Student athletes must be on track to complete their degrees in five years from the start of their five-year clock. It is very important to keep this rule in mind if you consider changing your major. Should you choose to change majors, you must still be able to finish your degree by the end of your fifth year or you render yourself ineligible to participate at the time of change. Your five year clock begins under any of the following conditions:

1. When a student initially registers in a minimum full-time program of studies (12 s.h.) for the fall or spring and attends the first day of classes for that semester;

2. When a student represents the UI in intercollegiate athletics, even if the student is not enrolled as a full time student;

3. When a student who is certified by the Athletics Director has reported for regular uniformed practice before the beginning of the fall or spring semester.
