About Us
In May of 2007 the Office of Internal Audit at the University of Iowa underwent a Quality Assurance Review (QAR). In 2012, an external consultant was hired to conduct a QAR for the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa. The goal was to fulfill the requirements of the Internal Audit standards which require an external review should be completed every five years. The consolidated results for all three institutions can be viewed here. Each of the recommendations identified in the report has been, or is being addressed.

Todd Stewart joined Internal Audit in August 2005. He previously served as Associate Controller and Director of Accounting at the University of Iowa for seven years. Prior to that, he worked as an administrator in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Iowa and as Audit Manager with the State of Iowa Auditor’s Office for sixteen years. Todd earned his B.S. in accounting from Iowa State University and M.B.A. from the University of Iowa. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager, Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Deb Johnston joined Internal Audit in January 2001 as a Senior Auditor. She previously worked for more than twenty years in the corporate world where she managed the accounting and finance functions of both service and manufacturing companies. Immediately prior to her working for the University, Deb was the Financial Systems Development Manager for APAC Customer Services during a large Lawson Software implementation. Deb earned her B.B.A in Finance from the University of Iowa, is a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Information Systems Auditor, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.

Chad Sharp joined Internal Audit in October 2002. He moved into his current position in December 2012. He previously worked for 3 ½ years as an account manager, financial auditor, and process/compliance analyst for a local telephone company. Chad earned a B.A. and MBA from the University of Iowa. He is a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Jaclyn Kolosik joined Internal Audit in August 2010. She previously worked for three years as an accounting analyst for a plastic bottle manufacturer. Prior to that, she worked as a revenue auditor in the entertainment industry. She earned her B.A. in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa.

Staci Meade joined Internal Audit in May 2013. She previously worked as an Assurance Associate for two top ten accounting firms where she audited manufacturers, construction companies, rural electric cooperatives and employee benefit plans. She also has experience with taxation and accounting for small businesses. She earned her B.B.A. in Accounting and MAc from the University of Iowa in 2010 and 2011 respectively. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
