We are nearing the point in the history of the universe when all life is coming to an end. The apocalypse, armageddon, whatever you want to call it.
The apocalypse will involve a massive celestial object, either an asteroid or a comet, plummeting down from the heavens and killing all of those in the Midwest instantly from the impact and ensuing fireball, or so a majority of those with "prothetic gifts" are now saying.
The impact shall only be the beginning of this end of time. A cloud of dust, similar to what killed the dinosaurs off, will rise, except this one will not only block the sun, but make the air unbreathable. A few, lucky humans will survive past the first few days of the cloud by breathing through gas masks, but the supply of their filters will run out shortly after. All life on Earth shall perish. And, in the coming years after the death of the Earth, the Universe will begin to collapse in on itself, in what astronomers call the "Big Crunch."
We can only speculate what will happen when time and space as we know it is gone. Will we live on in an alternate dimension? Will a new universe arise? These questions shall only be answered when that fateful day comes...
