FILM SUMMARY
This documentary by the award-winning Arab-American filmmaker Jehane Noujaim (Startup.com) examines the varying news representations of the second Iraq war. Having lived within, and embraced, both Western and Arab cultures, she uses her experience to present a balanced view of Al-Jazeera, the network branded "Osama Bin-Laden's mouthpiece," and to question the prevailing images of the U.S. news networks. While American networks broadcast sanitized versions of the struggle, with little blood and virtually no U.S. casualities, viewers of Al-Jazeera find images that interpret the war less optimistically, showing destroyed homes and bloodied civilians. An important documentary for these times, "Control Room" takes a close look at the flow of news information and the impact of its delivery. FILM LINKS
