Charting territory from corporate scandal to sexual politics, Spike Lee's "She Hate Me" has sparked controversy from its earliest screenings. John Henry "Jack" Armstrong (Anthony Mackie) is a Harvard-educated biotech executive who gets fired for turning investigators onto the crooked business dealings of his bosses. Branded a "whistle-blower" he becomes unemployable and in need of cash. He finds opportunity when his lesbian ex-girlfriend Fatima offers him cash to impregnate her new girlfriend Alex. Word spreads and Jack quickly finds himself impregnating lesbians for $10,000 each. At the same time, other forces are working to make Jack's life quite complicated. Roger Ebert says, "'She Hate Me' invites anger and analysis about the stereotypes it appears to celebrate; a film that attacked those stereotypes would inspire yawns."
