FILM SUMMARY
Already an accomplished artist and musician, Miranda July makes her directorial debut with ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW, a bold ensemble piece set in the suburbs of modern Los Angeles. Christine (July) is a struggling performance artist who supports herself by driving elderly citizens on their errands. Richard is a department store shoe salesman whose recent divorce has sent him wayward and damaged his relationship with two sons, Robby and Peter. While Peter is seduced by two teenage girls exploring their sexual prowess, Robby engages in an online relationship where his childish naivete is mistaken for kinkiness. Christine and Richard soon meet and form the nucleus of a rotating cast of characters that illustrates July's talent for keen and odd human observation. "July's handmade movie is so unique and so true to the artist's elementally feminine self, both in form and in content... it's impossible not to respond strongly to it" says Liza Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly.
