Directed by Andrew Horn
Germany, 2004 96 minutes In English and German w/ English subtitles |
"Andrew Horn's strange and fascinating documentary about the late New Wave singer and art object, Klaus Nomi, gives off a rich whiff of the New York punk bohemia of the late 1970s and early '80s."

FILM SUMMARY
A superstar in the hippest circles, a curiosity when he hit the road, Klaus Nomi embodied the highly localized spirit of self-invention that characterized early 80s New York. A classically trained operatic tenor from Germany, Nomi raised his voice a register and began delivering impassioned arias in a new-wave vaudeville revue. He stopped the show with his voice, but his alien-like appearance alone might have done the trick. "The Nomi Song" is a musical documentary on this fascinating figure and a meditation on fame, death, friendship, betrayal, opera, and the greatest New Wave rock star that never was!
Could I still take a bow? / Will they know me, No-mi, know me now?" - Lyrics from "The Nomi Song" FILM LINKS |
