FILM SUMMARY
Henry Darger is considered to be one of the best- and well-known outsider artists. He was a solitary man working as a janitor as he composed his intensely private work, including an epic, surreal fantasy tome numbering 15,000 pages with thousands of dream-like, bizarre and sometimes disturbing illustrations. His work was only discovered after Darger's death when his landlord went in to clean the room out. Academy Award-winning director Jessica Yu decided to visit Darger's room, and her inspiration to make this film came from the overwhelming emotion she felt seeing the obsessive collection of Darger. Yu's documentary is an exploration into the alien, intricate and surreal world created by a troubled and enigmatic genius -- an attempt to peer into what may be a near impenetrable work.
