Vodka Lemon
FILM SUMMARY

Set in a remote village in post-Soviet Armenia, submerged in snow, "Vodka Lemon" follows the elderly widower Hamo through his struggle to sustain himself financially and his rocky interactions with his sons. During his daily visits to his wife's grave, Hamo befriends the lovely Nina, a mourning widow who is younger than him, but just as penniless. She works in a village bar that is about to go under, and he begins to sell off his meager possessions. Despite the desolate conditions, the courting couple revive one another and display a vision of love among the ruins. A dry and precise and slow-paced comedy, "Vodka Lemon" reveals the beauty and perseverance of life in the mundane and absurd. Winner San Marco Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
