FILM SUMMARY
"The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" is a documentary that focuses on an uncommon bond between a homeless San Franciscan man and a flock of wild parrots native to Argentina. Mark Bittner's life takes on new meaning when he starts feeding the birds, noted for their green bodies and cherry-red heads. As outcasts who yearn to remain free, the parrots and the aging hippie develop a mutual respect for each other, and the birds soon feel comfortable enough to feed while perched all over Mr. Bittner. His interactions with the birds turn him into something of a local celebrity with curious passersby, and the parrots themselves emerge as the stars of the film with their unique and often amusing habits. Hollywood Reporter says Wild Parrots is a "genuinely sweet, beautifully constructed documentary." FILM LINKS |
