Hans liaoHans has over 30 years of experience in using and developing molecular tools to generate novel metabolic capabilities. He carried out one of the first experiments in directed evolution, to generate thermostable enzyme variants, and lead the technical team that developed a biocatalyst for the production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid, a new-to-the-world platform chemical made from renewable resources. Prior to joining OPX, Hans worked on industrial biotechnology at small firms (Draths Corporation), large companies (Cargill Incorporated), and academic institutions (the University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center). Hans holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
