5/4/07:  Info for the comprehensive final exam can be found on Handout 23.

 

4/27/07:  My Wednesday 1030-1130 am office hours on May 2nd will be changed to 2-3 pm.  You can also make an appointment to see me if that time does not work for your schedule.  I will also be available for extra office hours on Thurs. 430-6pm and Monday (May 7th - exam day) 9-10am

 

Practice final exams are posted on our exams web page.  The final exam is in our lecture room (C139 PC) from 12-2pm on Monday May 7th.

 

4/22/07:  Exam #2 is graded and will be returned next Tuesday in class.  The average was 74 with a standard deviation of 7.5 and a high score of 86.  The solutions for this exam are posted on our exams page.  Overall point statistics for the course so far are:

 

Average for each exam (out of 100):  Exam 1 (68 pts), Exam 2 (74 pts)

Average for problems sets (out of 15):  #1 (13.8), #2 (13.6), #3 (13.6), #4 (12.6)

Overall total points as of today (out of 260):  average = 196 (~B+/A- cutoff), std. dev. = 21

 

 

4/10/07:  Our 2nd exam is next Tuesday (April 17th in class) and will cover topics since the last exam (see Handout 18 for more details and for extra office hours).  Note that the practice exams on our web site are useful, but the XRD indexing problem is related to material that we covered in our first exam.

 

2/28/07:  Exam 1 is graded and has the following statistics:

average = 68

standard dev. = 13

high = 86

 

The exam solutions are posted on our web site (exams page).

 

2/16/07:  My Monday Feb. 19th office hour will be held at 4-5pm next week.  Remember that our first in-class exam will be held on Tues. Feb. 27th.

 

2/9/07:  PS#1 solutions are posted, an old blank exam with a solutions key is posted, and remember that our in-class Exam #1 is on Tuesday Feb. 27th.

 

1/28/07:  Reminder that the first Problem Set is due in-class on Thursday Feb. 1st.
